Thousands of homecoming and prom stories shared and questions aswered since 2005.
Even though we are young and amazing we may still be feeling a bit under-prepared for our prom. Maybe there are a few pounds we want to shed before prom arrives. Even though we shouldn't be focusing on our flaws sometimes we can't help it; we want to feel amazing in our prom dress. That's perfectly normal. So, in facing this fact we need to do it the right way. No fad diets, no starvation, no pills; losing five pounds is simple and it can be done in less than month while still enjoying food you like. Do not go about this the wrong way (fad diets) or you may end up gaining the weight back before prom arrives. Losing a few simple pounds the healthy way can be a life-saver for your confidence.
To start your month-long plan off right you will want to trash the sweets. Pack your mini-fridge with water and throw out the soda and other sugar-laced items. Now if you share your space, you will want to consider asking for a section of cabinet space to keep your healthy foods in. You do not want to upset those you live with by trashing their food, so just create your own 'health cabinet'. To regain your healthy, youthfulness you just need to make healthy choices.
When it comes to being young and healthy the easiest way to become side-tracked and get off-track is by eating nothing but processed junk food. It is very hard to get the recommended amounts of fruits and veggies each day so to start your healthy-diet off I recommend that you save up your money for a juicer. When you purchase a juicer it will pump you up and motivate you to use it. So, buy a juicer, get rid of anything with loads of sugar or high fructose corn syrup in it, and empty the cabinets of processed foods.
Once you have your sugar-diet under control, and your intake of fruits and fresh veggies is up to par, fill up on proteins, carbs, and all the veggies and fruit you can get your hands on. It is hard to eat too much fresh produce so keep a wide selection of fresh goodies on-hand to stay on track. This is when you decide to dig-in to exercise. You have re-vamped your diet and now you must burn-off more calories than you eat in order to lose those five pounds. Start off with speed walking or jogging at a pace that you can easily accomplish. This aerobic exercise is the easiest way to shed a few pounds. Stretch before your jog, and run as much as you feel comfortable with the first week, then add more distance every week for three consecutive weeks. At the end of your month, you will have lost at least five pounds, re-vamped your diet, and feel great, guaranteed.
