The basics of looking stunning for prom generally come from the main effect, the dress. But the runner's up tend to be the accessories and the hair do; what about your make-up? This is a key ingredient in your total prom appeal. Here are some basic make-up tips for your pre-prom prep work.
You will want to make sure that your face is freshly washed, cleansed, and toned with a gentle toner. Toner keeps your make-up from making a B-line to your pores. Also, apply a thin layer of moisturizer that is coordinated to fit your skin quality. At this point you will want to consider putting your dress on. If you put your dress on after applying all of your make-up you may be in for a scary ride. One smudge, and you're gorgeous dress is canned!
Begin with concealer; apply it with a small brush under your eyes and to cover any other obvious flaws. Use a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone to give you an illuminating glow. Then apply your foundation to the whole of your face, not your neck, which is a No-No. If you have an unfortunate break-out before prom night use a foundation that the exact same color as your face. You generally want to find a shade that is one to two shades lighter than your skin. This blends better than a darker shade.
Lighter foundation gives you a porcelain appeal instead of a baked-goods look. You want to look angelic, not like fried food. Make it as fresh, clean, and light and you can. Do not over-do it. Use foundation sparingly.
