Prom will never be just that ultimate chic issue that only the girls can gush over. Of course, where the pretty babes are, the guys are sure to drool over, also.

Prom for guys can be a very big deal too - it can be the night of their lives or a disaster in the making.

One thing is sure, nothing can start a perfect prom night like a perfect prom suit. At this event girls wearing flimsy and flirty dresses are not the only ones in the limelight, but the guys sporting hot suits are, as well. Make your partner proud with an ensemble that can even compete with hers and can show just how charming you truly are.

If you are going with a date that is perfect for you, make your team-up even more perfect by picking up a piece that is compatible with hers. Say, the colors would have to match; however, don't wildly amass a skill set that includes creating a strong fashion statement in direct contradiction with her style. Is she goes for pastels, then go for a pastel shirt. If she's into corporate red or serious black, then do the same. Some couples actually would tailor fit their dresses to pair off each other - you can also do as much for your girl if she is worth that much.

Also, you might consider wearing a tie, too, when dressing for formal occasions; these are appropriate, even in today's time of lax dress codes. The necktie is the ultimate consummate piece of men's garb.

However, not just any tie will do. While there are some ties that can accent the rest of your attire and give it a certain twang, there will also be other ties which can certainly detract from the ensemble, and indeed, detract terribly so.

To make this a little less complicated, know which tie is best for which ensemble. Since there are tons of different kinds of ties and many different coats, pants, and shoes and belts, just make sure on the one thing that a tie absolutely has to match - your shirt. Once the tie matches the shirt, you can then work outward to the suit itself. To better understand this, the necktie must be applied to their suitability for different shirt fabrics and shirt colors with which the ties should match.

There may also be some guys who prefer the bow tie instead of the straight necktie. This is also certainly acceptable for men's dress, and is in fact a welcome deviation. The suitability of necktie in men's contemporary dress garb can likewise be applied also to the bow tie, as well.
