How to ask a girl to prom

As prom season approaches, don't forget the most important ingredient- a great date! Although more and more girls are asking guys to the prom, most often the guy is still usually expected to ask. Some old fashioned sticklers still maintain that guys have to be the ones to ask.

The best way to ask a girl to the prom is in person, when she is alone. Asking her in front of a group of people will only make you more nervous and make you and her both feel worse if she has to say no. Because of this most guys wait until they are outside of school to ask but if she lives far away from you or you don't know where she hangs out this can be an obstacle. If you simply can't work up the courage to ask in person, or if you just haven't found the right time, it's okay to call her on the phone.

If you are lucky you have a long term girlfriend and 'know' that you have a built in date for the prom already. But even if this is so you should still make it a point to ask her. The prom is a formal occasion and a special night you should try to make it as nice for your girlfriend as you would for any other girl. If you're not careful someone else may ask her and you'll end up with no date for prom night!

You don't have to bring the girl on a fancy date or spend a lot of money on dinner before you can ask her. It is perfectly okay to ask her on the fly. If you really want to turn up the romance for a girl there are lots of romantic ways to ask her that are almost guaranteed to get you a yes answer. Sending her flowers, a teddy bear, or serenading her with a song are all ways sure to melt a girls heart.

If the worst case scenario happens and she says no, it's not the end of the world. There are lots of reasons why a girl might say no even if she likes you. She may already have a date or she might just think of you as a really good friend. The worst thing to do if she says no is to get overemotional and beg or plead. That is sure to turn the girl away. If you react calmly and nicely you might get a chance to bring her to prom next year or at least get to have a few dances with her.
