Tips for Cutting Prom Costs

Don't Let Prom Ruin Your Wallet

Guys, you will need to plan ahead when it comes to prom night. It will cost you quite a sum of money. Anticipate paying around $120 to $1500. You do not need to spend too much in order to have fun. Remember that it’s the company that counts. Your date and your friends will make the night memorable. If you have the money, you can go all out on prom night, but if you’re on a budget do not worry. These days, most friends divide some costs between them. Prom costs can start piling up, so be wise and plan in advance so that you can make sure that you are ready for the big night with as less stress as possible.

Typically, items on prom shopping lists include tickets, suit or tuxedo rental, photographs, corsage, and the limousine. Luckily, more and more couples are splitting the bill when it comes to some prom costs these days. This will help take some of the burden off guys. However, keep in mind that you will probably cover the expenses of more mutually enjoyed items than your date, who has her personal needs to cover. Remember, she’s dealing with prom dresses, hair, and accessories. She’s probably spending months and months thinking about her evening dress alone.

Skip on Stuff

Further, there is no reason why you should spend money on items and services that do not mean anything to you. If you and your date do not care about limousines, for example, just skip on it. If having a pile of professional prom photos don’t matter to you, just take the main professional photo and make sure you have your camera with you for a bunch of personal photos with your friends. No one says you have to do everything. Dare to be yourself on prom night. It just might save you a lot of money.

Personal Needs

You will have to cover all or part of the prom costs connected to everything besides her personal needs. The only thing on her that you need to cover is her corsage. There is a great range of styles and prices when it comes to prom corsages. Therefore, you have a choice in this department. You do not need to go for the most expensive flowers from the most expensive venue. Flowers are beautiful regardless; therefore, find a florist that offers reasonably priced products. You also need to take care of your personal needs, like the prom suit or tux, shoes, and more.

Split the Bill

You can find relief, however, when it comes to many other charges. Many couples split prom ticket costs. There is a chance, however, that you will pay for both of you. It depends on the standard procedure at your school. It also depends on your date and your relationship. Some guys want to treat a girl from start to finish, while others have a mutual understanding with a girl about splitting prom costs. While the ticket issue can go either way, limousine rental is usually divided among a large group of friends. This does not mean, however, that it will be cheap. Limo rental is quite expensive. Therefore, make sure that you fill in every empty seat in the limo, so that the cost per person will be lower. You and your date can also agree to split the costs of the professional prom night photograph. Further, if you go out to dinner before your prom, you can split that cost, as well.

Comparison Shop in Advance

Do not wait for the last minute to start shopping around. Even if you don’t buy anything, look around months in advance. Comparison shopping will help you locate the best deals. Your footwork and phone calls can save you money. You can find great deals and affordable vendors if you do your homework. Further, ask vendors about when they think is a good time to book for prom night. Limousines get booked quickly when it comes to prom time. Suit rental locations run out of sizes and more. If you have a time plan, it will help. Avoid stressful times and look around and buy or rent as far in advance as possible. This is the best thing you can do for yourself.
