Dangles and Bangles

Don't Forget to Accessorize!

If your prom night is approaching and you have everything put together except the accessories then you may need to step it up. Contrary to popular belief the dress is not always the most important part of a prom outfit. Accessorizing the entire outfit is essential in completing and outfit. The latest trend in accent pieces is a pair of bulky earrings and multiple bracelets on one arm (or both). Incorporating these pieces into your prom attire can add a splash of intrigue to your palette. These staples can bring flair to even a one color outfit trend. Using the idea of bangles to create a fresh look can be truly easy. The concept is to add stacks and stacks of different sized bracelets to create a textured look around the wrist. This concept has even brought back the clip-on bracelet.

Take Queues from the Stars

The bangle theory is not just dependant on little bracelets but it also incorporates the idea of using two or three thicker bracelets to create the same effect. Chunky, wooden (or metal) bracelets are a big fashion trend at the moment. Use oversized bracelets to cover your wrist to your forearm; this look has been seem on the runway and will look great with a fashion-friendly prom dress. As long as you do not overdo it with opposing patterns the look can easily be pulled off. If you find yourself wanting to make a palette-splash by mixing a little bit of opposites try mixing metallics with patterns, or solids with patterns. Pattern mixing can actually hurt your look. For a fabulous addition, use long-hanging, thicker earrings to polish off your look.

Big earrings are the latest craze. There is really no such thing as too big right now. Multiple sections, thick strands, large circles, they are all in and they are all gorgeous. The fool-proof method is to mix large metallic hoops with an arm full of matching metallic bangles, but for a far more adventurous look, keep your eyes open for bigger and bolder sightings. Stars such as Penelope Cruise are great inspirations for the use of big earrings. She frequents the long, multi faceted earrings and they always look stunning on her. Using an inspired look such as metal feathers, leaf-cuts, or even oyster inspired shelled earrings can be a nice way to add texture. The large cut earrings can lean towards shapes of nature and these really add a tasteful flare. Be creative when pushing for bigger, bolder accents and you can use looks that have pulled off rave reviews to polish off your choices.
