Thousands of homecoming and prom stories shared and questions aswered since 2005.
With the years passing by and the designs and styles progressing, in form and function, one thing that is seemingly progressive is the return of the-promdress-past. Every year we come closer and closer to recreating the best attributes from past designs.
Incorporating the best of everything from the once-upon-a-time, 80's style, into the designs of today. The prom dress is no different. It has reached exquisite new heights and ground-breaking threads with the help of top designers and the best of past and present. A collaboration of the best qualities have been brought into the recent line up of prom dress designs.
We’re not talking spandex and shoulder pads. We’re talking the return of the extremely fashionable dress designs that weren’t meant to go out of style. Not to mention the always wonderful accessories like the ever chic black gloves, the beloved ankle-strapped high heel, and the long strand of tied peals. The best of the best. Some things were meant to be left behind, but others have returned with a fashion vengeance.
One of the most favored come-backs that has struck the prom dress world is the visible, under-the-skirt length of sheer fabric and the slanted-cut skirt. The lace under layer has returned to spread the word. This stylist returned design has hit the runways again. It is an astonishing way to add a touch of almost invisible length to a shorter dress without being too over the top.
With a dress that comes above the knee it can easily become too short. There is a thin line between good and bad when it comes to a shortness of a dress, but this lace under-layer allows for a few more inches of ‘play room’ without stepping into that too-short-territory. It can allow for a short skirted dress to be above the knee but also give the shear appearance of being at the knee.
The slanted skirt dress is a designer trend that has made it’s second debut. It’s return is not a minute too soon. The layered effect of the slant is very becoming and allows women to show off their lovely legs without revealing far too much. There are sharp slants and slight slants but depending on the dress’ top both can be chic. So we thank the 80's for revamping our fav designs at the right time.
