Where should I draw the line in wearing a suggestive prom dress?

Is an off-the-shoulders look ever too sensuous or too seductive? Remember the scene in the film, "Jerry Maguire" when Renee Zellweger gets her black dress straps pulled and untied? The kisses just seemed to naturally follow suit. It wasn't exactly an open invitation. Or, was it?
