Who Says She Can't Ask

Girls are asking boys more than ever before!

The days of prom formality are working their way behind us. Etiquette is changing rapidly and we are caught in a whirlwind of confusing scenarios. It is almost confusing and then someone comes along that clears the air and says it’s alright. So what is proper for prom?

The old rule was that the boy asked the girl. That was strict, written in stone, and no other way acceptable. Until now.

We have dawned into a new era. A time of acceptance and open airways. Now it no longer matters as long as everyone is happily marching to prom proudly displaying a date on their arm. It is no longer a ‘must’ to wait around for your crush to ask you to go. The age of ‘going with your gut’ is upon us. And in many ways it is so awesome.

Girls no longer have to wonder and assume. As open as humanly possible; any girl can feel free to confront the guy of her choice, with confidence, in hopes of inviting them to the prom. Even if some parents still find it to be a little “off” the point of it all is the happiness of the lady and gentleman attending the prom. And rightfully so, the good times at the prom are the kept memories of those two.

So go on girls; grab your cutest everyday outfit, slap on the lip gloss, and catch your crush during lunch. Ask him! Just ask him. If you’ve waited, and waited, and then waited a little more, it is time to find out if he has a date already, and if not, then you swoop in there like a free spirit and give the cutest invitation you possibly can.

And there’s no harm in giving an after school phone call. Your point here is to rope-in the date that you want, right? So do what feels right and then accept the Yes and get ready for prom!
