Thousands of homecoming and prom stories shared and questions aswered since 2005.
Prom Horror stories abound when prom seasons comes around: Everything from lousy limo rides; to ripped dresses; to bad dates; to horrible food; and, worse yet, ghostly friends who disappear on you at the most inopportune moments. Sometimes, things even escalate to a degree where bad things happen one-after-the-other.
It's an understatement to say, "When it rains, it can sometimes pour." Here are some stories about proms that didn't exactly go as planned, and how the unwitting victims made it work to their advantage.
Over-the-top
For openers, this story concerns a large group of five couples, with a pair of parents, as chaperones. Being such a big group, they made the smart decision of renting a limo, which arrived more or less on schedule. - The hitch? The vehicle could only fit six prom-goers.
The entire group piled in anyway; the girls sitting on the guys, and two other people sitting up front with the chaperones. Then, as if that weren't enough the limo couldn't take the corners all too well, with the wheels making all these scratching noises when rubber hit the underside of the car.
Aside from that these little drawbacks though, the night went well enough, and people still enjoyed themselves. But if anything had gone awry, you could just imagine how things would have ended up. Everybody just laughed about it when they got to the ballroom.
Another prom experience brought lots of compliments for one girl and her gorgeous gown. You could only imagine what an ego boost that was, for her and her own date, too. Well get this; when the photos came out, she discovered that her "most prized assets" were spilling out over the top of her dress bodice. Needless to say, there's one memory she'll never live down.
Another girl had an entirely different problem. She made the unfortunate mistake of accepting a date that she regretted after prom. The guy who had asked her to the prom, turned out to be someone she didn't like one bit. So, she made efforts to ditch her date. During the prom itself, the guy started complaining about how she'd been ditching him left and right; and even resorted to asking his friends, indirectly, to tell her that he was getting pissed.
So, thoughtfully, the girl went up to the guy and asked him if he really was angry; to which the boy replied in the negative, but kept this sullen silence afterwards, anyway. From there she ditched him for real after that, and managed to enjoy the rest of her night.
The idea when these things happen is to keep a level head - or in the case of "the booby-trapped girl," to laugh it off. Some things are entirely out of our control, but with the proper attitude and some fast and smart decision-making, it can make the situation a whole lot easier.
And maybe a little bit of luck now and then won't hurt eh?
