Drinking Before Prom

Drinking on Prom Night

You're probably invited to a bunch of pre-prom parties and several after prom parties, right? And, no doubt, at least some of them are going to have alcohol at them even though you're all underage. Your parents and teachers have probably already tried telling you about the dangers of underage drinking. There are plenty of really good reasons to stay sober this prom season:

You'll look bad

No one, no one, looks good drunk especially at a formal dance like the prom. Dancing becomes stumbling. Chatting with your friends becomes slurring. Or worse yet you might say something stupid or embarrassing. You really don't want to wake up the day after prom and realize that your friends are all mad at you and your date never wants to speak to you again. Alcohol is also bad for your hair and skin. It's dehydrating and will make you look sweaty, red, and greasy. Plus, I assure you, nothing is grosser then a prom dress that's been puked on.

You won't remember anything

After all the planning and all the money and time you've spent do you really want to wake up in a haze the next day and not remember a thing about one of the most memorable nights of your life?

You can get hurt

Yes, even if you've rented a limo and aren't driving you can still get hurt, injured, or killed because of drinking. You don't want to spend your prom night in the emergency room with alcohol poisoning, do you? Also, statistics show that nearly 90% of crimes done by and done to teenagers, including rape and murder, are alcohol related. Date rape is a specific concern come prom night and alcohol is a big factor in the crime. Girls, you will be able to keep yourself safe and in charge of your safety if you're thinking isn't muddled by drinking. Guys, you will be held legally responsible for what you do, even if you were drunk at the time, and if you aren't drunk you'll have a clearer idea of what you're doing and what your date does, or doesn't, want to do.

You could be arrested

Underage drinking is a crime, even on prom night. You could get arrested, get your friends arrested, and also get who ever supplied you with the alcohol in a lot of trouble. The cops are smarter then you think. They know what night the prom is going on and they know a lot of teens will be out on the road or at parties drinking. If given the choice between spending the prom night in jail with a D.U.I or in the emergency room with alcohol poisoning I'll take the rum-free fruit punch, please.
