It's As If It's Not Even There!

The fun part is finding the outfit for your prom. You get to Oh and Ah over all of the glitzy dresses and paw at the coveted shoes by the millions. But you come to brick wall when you realize that your small selection of bras doesn’t equal to the fit of your prom dress. What do you do now?

There are so many types of bras and so many different fits that it can be confusing. You’ve got the regular, two-strap bra in your closet, but your dress my be a spaghetti strap, halter, or it may have no straps at all.

You have to play the role of magician and make those straps disappear while still remaining perky and upright. There are bras to fit each type of available tops you just need to pin-point the right one. If your dress has two, thick straps that go straight over the shoulders and then connecting to the back, then you will probably be ok with wearing a regular back-to-front bra.

The rules are simple. Keep it hidden and try to look as seamless as possible. It is not that hard. If possible, bring your dress with you to prevent returns and added stress. You have a few general categories to consider.

The strapless dress requires a strapless bra. This means only the main wrap-around coverage area is needed. You can find versatile bras, with a strapless option, that can also convert back to a regular bra. The only worry here is that there may be some extra places that can poke you and become annoying. Splurging and buying a made to fit strapless bra is your best.

Dresses with a full dipped front can fall just short of covering the front of the bra. Find a low cut bra that is bearing a low bent under wire to prevent front exposure. Backless dresses can be just as difficult. There are special self-adhesive bras made for this purpose. They adhere to your breasts and act as a second skin, so there are no clasps, no fabric, just silicone coverage for a sleek look under thirty dollars. Halter tops also require special halter bras. Find a convertible bra that has versatile straps that can interchange to wrap around the neck instead of over the shoulders.
