Avoid Ugly Prom Shoes

Nothing can ruin a prom dress, or a prom night in an instant, than ugly prom shoes. No matter how you try to evade it, your skirt can never be long enough to hide them from the public or from your eyes. Plus, you will always feel them in your feet, pulling down all your spirit and make you feel you won’t be able to last the night.

Sure you’d want to step up to the limelight of the night, but there’s a thin line between being famous and being infamous. And in that thin line, you can step right up to the wrong direction upon wearing simply horrible shoes that would make even your grandma puke.

Apparently, these shoes here along with the guys, who are wearing them, can’t get this thing straight in their head. Maybe their grandma didn’t teach them a thing or two about the right prom shoes.

Choose the Right Shoes for your Dress

For ladies, if you want your dress and shoes to match, you can have your shoes dyed to match your already-perfect dress. For the boys, a general rule of thumb is that you match the belt to the shoes. So if you’re wearing a black belt, you can wear black shoes and if you’re wearing a brown belt, wear brown shoes. However, this isn’t really chiseled in stone so you can experiment, just as long as you feel comfortable with it.

For both men and women though, you don’t have to look for blue shoes to match a blue dress. The general rule is that a shoe must usually be in the same color family or hue as the outfit it is accompanying, but not necessarily an exact match. We all know the difficulty in finding the exact match for that perfect dress, so we can cheat a little with this. Come to think of it, in a particular dress, there are a lot of colors represented, so you have a lot of leeway here. For a dress that is a little like salmon, you might want to try some shade of pink–or even tan, to bring out the color more. However, if you have brightly colored outfits, don’t also go neon on your soles. Remember that shoes in vivid colors attract attention and will consequently make your feet look bigger. For such shoes in such scenarios, I’d recommend that you should be sticking to minimalist styles that are easier to wear.
