Some were meant to be Hot... Some were Not

Have you ever given any thought to what makes a prom get-up a class act? Or how a similar attire can get voted as The Year’s Top Dork? Many factors affect the outcome of your prom, but the one big question is: do you have what it takes to pull off a memorable night?

If you’re totally clueless on what to wear for the prom, feel free to get a clue from the hot and not-so-hot, and put together that killer costume that’ll blow them all away.

It's all in the Hips... or Not

Well, ok, maybe not; it all depends on the kind of person you are. Hipster coats for men will look dismal on long-legged track runners, while the stumpier of the species will probably look dashing and probably even gorgeous. Meanwhile, women have it a lot easier in this department, the golden rule being matching bust and waists without drawing too much attention to the midriff. Billowing gowns might look fantastic on meatier woman, but petite girls would probably end up looking like a Barbie doll or a hula girl.

Color is a simpler matter: don’t get anything that’ll glow in the dark. While pastel-colored tuxedoes might seem to be a really hip idea, or those frilly items popular back during the Victorian, these days, hot flood and spotlights that span the ceilings of most dances don’t really do wonders to fabrics that tend to shine. Think black. Black is classy, and it absorbs light too.

Again, girls have it easier when it comes to color. Black is, as always, a classic choice, but choosing a pastel design will make you look fresh, and even young (and we all know how looking young is always a plus). Just don’t ever choose a style that’ll accentuate parts of your body that you’d rather hide – like, say a slightly bigger than flat tummy.
