There is a new trend that is taking its place at the front of the line. Ballerina style dresses are becoming a hot topic. These dresses are fun and flirty. They have a touch of formal without being too serious and the trend is catching on quickly. Although the ballerina dress is more of a personal preference than a passing fad the availability and style options are there for the taking.
There are several styles of ballerina dresses that you can choose from. The basic shape of the skirt remains the same in most ballerina cuts but the top can differ. Depending upon your body shape there are many flattering bodices that will fit and flatter you. Spaghetti strap tops are the most frequently worn ballerina gowns. These slender strapped dresses give the appeal of an authentic ballerina. If you are interested in this style for the shape of skirt alone then a strapless option will help your cause. The strapless top brings the eye of the on-looker straight to the waistline and the jutting skirt. A halter top design is a great option for large-busted ladies. This cut helps to even the over-all curves of the upper body while still emphasizing a nice waistline. Some designers have incorporated an off-the-shoulder top that looks great on any body type. If you have bigger arms the V-neck incorporated with an off-shoulder top can elongate the neck bringing attention to the neck instead of the arms. A V-neck option is also great for most body types but if you prefer a strapped top style then search out a thicker strapped top. This is a style found most often on regular dresses. The ballerina dress carries most of its versatility in the top design.
There are also a few variations that can be found in the skirt design and this can help you to personalize the gown to your liking. The normal length of a ballerina gown resembles a mini. Usually its length sits at the thigh, well above the knee. Let's be honest, not all of us can pull-off the mini or are brave enough to try and in this case we are given several length options to choose from. Starting at the thigh you can then choose a mid-thigh cut, a 'just above the knee' cut and a knee-length cut. If you go any further than knee length you lose the ballerina style. The organza material that is used to hoist the fabric is only so strong and if it is used at too long of a length it loses the strength required to hold the skirt up and out. Ballerina dresses can flatter almost any body type so be bold and go ballerina!
