if i get a gothic dress, does it have to be black?

I want to be a goth, so, if i wanted to wear a goth dress for prom, do i have to wear black? what other colors do goths wear?

Because if "goths" had their own personal style, then it would basically go against everything the subculture "goth" is about. I find it an individual subculture. Basically, being you without anyone contradicting trends. Having your own clothing styles without going with a certain 'stereotype'. It is, actually, a lifestyle. Just not a severe one. Goths do have some similar interest's and tastes, but overall, a 'true goth' is full of uniqueness, which (futhermore) doesn't include the eyeliner, white face.. To the person who said that goth's are intensively artistic and more on the creative side, that's quite true. Because goths are more open to acceptance of different types of emotions (yes, not just the depressed type idiot.) and different types of art. I think everybody should applaud this 'subculture' or whatever you want to call it. Because in this particular society, your a freak if your different and I don't see the fairness in that.. Do you? To answer your question, goths do wear the 'base color' of their outfit black, with bright colors running through the outfit. But, it's completely up to you.
