if i get a gothic dress, does it have to be black?

I want to be a goth, so, if i wanted to wear a goth dress for prom, do i have to wear black? what other colors do goths wear?

I wear light colours somtimes, but most goths just tend to prefer darker colours. Goth and being Goth is a personal preference, the whole point of being Goth is that you want to be unique and not follow the "trends" so to speak. being goth mean you want to be our own person ... unfortunatly all the people like that have been lumped together in the "Goth" catergory and been told they have to wear black, dark makeup and self harm .... grrr. be unique and true to yourself, but be warned that if you don't follow the steriotyping, i've found that i get called "not a true goth". I'll probably get flames now lol!
