People stereotype Goths!

People say "Ohhhh. Goths are creepy. They hurt themselves and are freaky! And did I mention creepy?" Well, that's sorta true! But we don't all inflict pain on ourselves. But, no offense fellow Gothicas, but we are "freaky or creepy". To others. This amazing and should-be-respected subculture was inspired by medeval times! Did I spell medeval correct? But, but, but, but, we are different! We are who we are and we aren't ones who would kill to be popular! Sigh. We aren't understood. And that's how some Goths get the the Depressed stage! The fact that this article asked if they spelled medieval wrong or that you think what Crow and Dayna said was stupid? 'Cause it ain't. It's very true! We get called goth but we're just like everyone else, except we dress diffrently! Neither of these should be called stupid because medievel is comonly spelled incorrectly and dressing diffrently is called "fashion" which everyone seems to follow, and those who don't get labeled and criticized. -KryName: Amanda | Date: January 5, 2010, 11:00 pmI respect all beliefs and all differences in people, and I myself used to call myself "emo" but I was 12, and I got over it. I'm not saying that anyone here has anything they need to "get over" but the way you present yourself affects peoples thoughts. We all know we unfortunately can not control what other people thin so when you choose to wear black pants with chains on them *yes, I used to wear them too* people are going to think you're some sort of trouble maker. My friends and I have been accused of stealing so many times... and we're good kids. People just judged us on what we wore. Now I'm going on a rant. But what I'm getting at here is when you wake up in the morning and you decide how to wear your makeup and what clothes to wear, you're affecting other's thoughts. And if you're sensitive to what others are going to say, then maybe dressing so differently isn't for you.Name: denyo( thats my real name it means warrior like) p | Date: January 25, 2010, 7:32 pmi am a true goth and i dont hurt myself we are just ppl who like to wear black and stand out. i have a bunch of freinds and they except me for who i am.i have had prissy sassy chearleaders come up to me and say that they like nmyt style.pp; may call us freaks are weird ppl but that sfine wit me.goths are just ppl who know a bunch of stuff and beleive alot of stuff that other ppl dont beleive.but you know what.100 percent of the time we sare right. so next tinme you see a gothe just tell them they look nice and dont be meanName: Caitlin | Date: February 28, 2010, 12:39 pmVery wrong, very very wrong. It's neevr been about 'individuality' or 'rebellion'. And the association with self-harm, violence and depression is bull, I'm going to get that out of the way first. Sure, you can get goths who are actually depressed but that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact they are a goth and everything to do with the 900 other aspects of their life that the subculture has no influence over. I suppose the fashion is partly inspired from Midieval styles, but it's inspired by nearly every historical period besides that - Victorian, for example. It's also inspired by horror imagery, and as it originally stemmed from Punk it has extremely close ties to the fashion aspect of that too. But it isn't about being different or just fashion, it's about music. 'Standing out', individuality and - most importantly - 'troublemaking' have NOTHING to do with it. This entire subculture started because of MUSIC - bands like Bauhaus, and Siouxsie and the Banshees to name but two. Your emotions are something that are completely separate, there is no link. I will happily argue my point further if need be.Name: fairy | Date: May 22, 2010, 7:31 pmyou want kids who actually know what suffering is? don't look for the ones who listen to The Used.
