Do you think Lolita dresses are ok for prom?

I have seen some cute Japanese lolita style dresses on the net and I love them and prom's a great excuse for buying one, since they're kinda expensive, but I'll get to wear my dress all the time after prom, which is good, but do you think I should go more formal and get a long draping ball gown or is lolita ok?

Ask the egl livejournal community). For example, the dress that Loki suggested may seem a little mature, but it still looks like a costume because of the shape, the fact that it's revealing (by lolita standards), and poor quality (and I'm saying this as an experienced lolita, not to give up anyone's hopes. This is prom. You want to look good, non? Rakuen is a cosplay store. Not an established lolita brand). I think if you want to wear lolita, find something that can go with the theme of the prom and looks elegant. Yes, you may still stick out because of the petticoat and the shortness of standard prom dresses, but lolita should be worn with love. And if you love it so much, who cares of what others think (who knows, you might get plenty of complements). Name: ~BlackxXxRoses~ | Date: June 22, 2008, 5:04 pmI personally use any special occasion as an excuse to get the lolita out! Usually if it's formal gothic over sweet and on the elegant/classical side. If I really have to be 'normal' i add gothic/sweet/just plain lolita... elements or pick 'mainstream' clothes which unknowinglY have those elements. Or I alter ordinary stuff and add lotsa bows.... What am i saying, defy the norbies and go full on LOLI! Name: Kiki | Date: July 12, 2008, 6:36 pmI think you should do what ever you want. I mean if its your style and you like it who cares what other people think you know just go to prom with what ever fashion you want.^-^♥Name: joy | Date: October 19, 2008, 10:43 pmI am going to dress in lolita for prom too!
