Curious about the gothic look

My friends are telling me that gothic is weird but I kind of like to try to wear a gothic prom dress and see if it suits me right. Do all gothic prom dresses look weird?

What many people DONT realize is that the gothic subculture is orriented to look differntly then everyone else, to break a few rules, and to step outside of the box made by money hungery fashion industries...(or that girl that everyone adores two lockers down from you)...I haven't looked at the chioves for your dresses but ultimately don't worry about what your friends say or what ever. Just be you...
Name: Smarter than you | Date: March 27, 2008, 1:49 pmWhat? Did you guys have a fishnet crib and black nail varnish when you were born? Gothic dress's can look extermely elegent and beautiful so don't be afraid to wear one because they look amazing. Only don't opt for a cheap tacky one made out of rolls and rolls of velvet, it'll make you too hot and stop you from enjoying your night. But a corset will look great especially if you have it fitted and made for you because it'll be much more comfortable. As for the herks on here, if you can't be of any help...why don't you get lost and huddle yourselves into a circle and plot world domination? I mean, you want to exclude yourself so much from the "preps" you might as well form your own cilt. See? Sterotyping goths to be in a cult, it's NOT the wannabe's that give goth a bad name, it's iggnorant fools like you who arn't accepting like all goths should be. Get lives, I'm into goth and I have been for years and I didn't turn out to be a loser, maybe you guys should take your heads OUT of your butts.Name: KillerAngel_WithLips_LikeMorphine | Date: March 30, 2008, 5:20 pmGothic clothes are defined by there style and lok, not by the people who wear them, Stop being so judgmental, if you are judging someone just because they are perp and want to wear a gothic dress, then it's you who makes me sickName: Hayley | Date: April 7, 2008, 6:21 pmyou obv dont like gothic dresses that much if you say do they all look weird?. Name: thingsyouguysarestupid | Date: April 7, 2008, 10:29 pmyou guys are all stupid conformists children of society who have nothing better to do than argue over idiotic stuff like what prom dress to where honestly why dont you just go kill youself do us a favor and shut up... there are somany more things to life and you worry about joining a conformist group... i doesnt matter what you wear, wear what you like the rest the world can go to hell!]YAYName: Annika | Date: May 3, 2008, 10:43 pmYour FRIENDS are weird.Name: BeYourself | Date: June 17, 2008, 9:48 amI came across this forum while bored surfing the net and I am so glad I did so I can pass on some advice to the next generation. I hope you still read this even though the forum is so old. I want to tell you that you shouldn't wear something that doesn't feel right. When someone dresses goth/emo/whatever they are saying this is what I am into this is how I want you to see me. It's tells people what you like so they can figure out if they want to approach you. Let's face it we all judge on looks and first impressions. When you decide to wear something for any occasion think about what message you want to send people. As a fashion designer I think that's the most important thing. I've designed clothes for Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Nightwish and many more. They told me what message they wanted to get across to the audience and I sketched countless designs until they were happy. Goth is not a style or a label it's a word we use to describe certain items of clothing. No one can be classified as goth because they are a unique person. I hope you read this and decide to be yourself rather than what others see as goth. Name: GothCrystal | Date: August 1, 2008, 3:55 pm...Why would you want to dress goth anyways? You are like a total poser, don't be curious like you say you are....."Curiosity killed the cat." P.S LOSER, GOTHS DONT ALWAYS WEAR BLACK. IDIOTName: Mistress Emilie ---xXx | Date: August 19, 2008, 6:17 pmI agree ... with Sarah Fong. She has to start somewhere. I was Emo for a while; now I'm going for the whole Gothic look. I would hate it if all I wanted to know was whether I should risk a new look and I got back a load of abuse from "Goths". Obviously, you're not very Goth at all if you just go round going "Oh, I'm all dark and mysterious because I'm soooo Goth and no one else can match up in my supreme darkness!" Guess what? Real. Goths. Don't. Go. Round. Shouting. About. Their. Label. That's what wannabes do! The lame people on here who just came to slag her off ---GROW UP!!Name: Mistress Emilie ---xXx | Date: August 19, 2008, 6:17 pmI agree ... with Sarah Fong. She has to start somewhere.
