Has anyone seen these? Would they make a good prom dress?

I love vintage dresses, but I don't have tons of money. Ruby Rox has a bunch of 1940-60's pin up girl dresses that are really cute and only around $50, but I think they might be too simple. Have any of you seen these? Can you offer some perspective on them, or have any tips to dress them up a little and look more fancy.
