my family and I need to shop at a thrift store. Do I even have a chance?

I really want a nice prom dress. I've started looking months and months in advance so I hopefully can find a nice prom gown...but I can only afford the thrift store. Do you have tips on buying here? Do I even have a chance to find something flattering?

I borrowed a dress that came from a thrift store. it wasn't my dream dress at all but it was short notice. when i did go to prom a girl was all fifites glamour... i asked where she got it... she said from a thrift store for ten dollars. it was gorgeous dress!
