I want to wear a unique dress that I like, but I see all these movies with really mean girls just ripping others apart and I even see it on this site. Is it really ok to be yourself, because I don't want my night ruined by someone criticizing my dress or date

If you think it looks good on you, wear it, and don't even bother to care what others think. Prom is really just an formal occasion to go and have fun with your friends, not a place to see who's the richest or prettiest.
