Name: angela thomas | Date: February 16, 2007, 1:26 pmmaybe u should lose a little weight.Name: Jen Saywer | Date: February 17, 2007, 12:30 amDont worry about what anybody else think about your dress...pick the dress you feel most beautiful in! I am a chubby girl 2 and chose more ball gowns stay away from form fitted (obvisously) and pick a color that will bring out your facial features and other postive atributes of body to take away from your "chubbiness" the most important thing is to be comfortable in your own skin...and to Miss Thomas way to be a great support to a girlo who jsut looking for some help! Name: Lanie | Date: February 21, 2007, 7:03 pmHey there Farrah. I agree with what Jen Saywer said above. It is better to ignore what other people say and focus on what you really love to wear on prom. Name: sassy swenson | Date: February 26, 2007, 1:01 pmFirst off angela thomas that was a really bitchy thing to say... Second thing for a heavier girl go with a halter or thicker straps they will look much better then thin straps and strapless.Name: Jennie | Date: February 28, 2007, 8:18 pmI don't think Angela Thomas was being bitchy. Name: Steph | Date: March 4, 2007, 8:53 pmI think Miss Thomas has a valid point, but I'm guessing there is no time before prom to do that, and you aren't here asking for body advice. If your comfortable in your skin already thats cool. You wanna know about different sizes of dresses. Goodluck! Try sydneyscloset.com they have heaps of nice dresses. Or better still come up with your own concept and get someone else to design it. I would suggest covering your stomach and upper arms, so get a shawl. You can tie it behind your back so that it doesn't get in the way. I wish I had done this at my last ball!Name: Heather Michelle- Fashion Guru | Date: March 7, 2007, 10:30 amGee. Gosh. Depending on your body type sna dyour degree of "chubbiness" you may want to go with a thick strapped dress with a ball gown like train. One very important thing to remember is that you don't want to hide your body, that will make you appear bigger than you actually are. Instead, play up your best features and remember to pick something YOU like because YOU are the one that must wear it. Have a Great Time! Name: Amanda | Date: March 7, 2007, 8:31 pmJust remember to choose clothes that hide/camouflage your flaws.Name: Stephanie | Date: March 14, 2007, 4:12 pmMy daughter has found that an empire waist with ruching across the bust was nice. Simplicity 4577. Emphasized her "D" assets and downplayed her stomach while being fitted in the back and hanging nicely off the butt. She did not like the small straps and would have liked to have a shrug or caplet. We will probably make it with wider straps and a shrug for prom. She tried on the tried and true strapless gown - fitted thru the bodice and down to an a-line skirt - no waist band -(see Simplicity 5207) and found it to be surprisingly flattering. Again she would probably put straps on it and wear a shawl or shrug. She is around 5'9" and wears size XL or 18-22 depending on the style, make etc of ready made.
