Top dress designers have never been so bold. 2012 is a blend of bravery and uniqueness in all aspects of dress creation. There is one trend that is taking this year's prom season by storm; geometric design. Who knew that geometry could be this gorgeous? Top dress designers across the board have taken this runway look and turned it into a show stopping prom alternative. All of your favorite designers (Tiffany, Jovani, Sheri Hill, etc.) have incorporated this fascinating style into this year's line-up and you get to reap the rewards.
These designs were made for the ultimate fashionista. If you crave the spotlight and want to turn every head then geometric design is for you. There is nothing simple or ordinary about them. You can find nearly any dress design with a geometric hue. This year's top seller is a corset-cut, strapless bodice design including a flowing, multi-layer floor-length skirt with full coverage geometric fabric. This style can be found across the board. The harder to find designs include the strapless rouched mini, halter necks and bubble skirts. You may have to do some digging to find different cuts but if you're set on a specific style then the digging will be well worth it.

Some designers have toned-down the use of geometric fabrics for those of you who want a stunning look without the feeling of over-kill. You can find geometrics with a two-tone effect; a one colored bodice with a geometric skirt pattern. Even the 'fading fabric' look can be found at most designer outlets. The fading effect is truly a beautiful alternative to the all-geo pattern. This look gives you a full-geo pattern at either the bodice or the hemline of a dress and gradually fades to a solid fabric color at the opposite end. Most women have preferred the top-fade geo pattern; this brings emphasis to the flowing material of the skirt.
Every year the International Prom Association lists its Top 100 for the upcoming prom season. This year the front-runner is geometric design. Over 20 of the Top 100 dresses are geometric dress designs. Some of these dresses have become so infamous that they are being labeled as 'art' rather than clothing. With such buzz circling around one specific design it can become harder to get your hands on your dress of choice. You can request an IPA catalog online at internationalprom.com. This is your first step towards staying ahead of the pack this year.
Some designers are requesting an advance order to prepare for the upcoming season. So if geometric design is something that you are interested in this year you may want to double-check the availability and be sure to plan ahead. If your favorite designer has specific guidelines for advance ordering be sure to read the policy thoroughly so you know exactly what your purchasing obligations are. If you have any questions regarding a company's purchasing, shipping or return policies call the company directly. Email contacts are far less reliable. Speak with a live representative. With a little pre-planning you can be sure that your favorite geo-dress will be in your hands for prom night.
