Collars - A Bold Look

2010 is, by far, one of the best years to be planning your rendezvous at the prom. The creativity that has been built into this year's prom dress collections has surpassed previous designs and yielded whole new concepts in the art of prom fashion attire. An enticing array of whimsical, classical looks have been grouped together in an effort to revamp, and couple, styles from years-past. These new expressions in guise have shown us that you can take exaggerated features and incorporate them seamlessly into a chic, evening collection.

The La Femme 2010 collection has intricately incorporated bold collar designs into their already fabulous prom dress selections. Elaborately pointed collars are displayed on amazing taffeta gowns; this new rage of design has created a bold look for women who dare to reach to new heights, literally. These collar designs have brought a creative whim to ordinary gown patterns. By mixing the element of height into the collars you bring an essence of adornment to other features of the outfit. The skirt-length of such a gown generally falls on a wedding-style to give its entirety a royal air. A high-collar mixed with an A-line neck design can give any dress style a majestic feel. The high-collar look stems from the Victorian era. High-collars were the 'norm' amidst royalty; Queen Elizabeth was a fan of high collar dresses. The fashionable wear of tall collars is not just for the look of the dress; this style allows your natural features to stand out. The look of a high collar and a low cut neckline will actually accentuate your neck, showing off any bib jewelry that you are wearing, and cradling the natural contours of your head and neck.

Dazzle with a High Collar

Vintage, French dress styles-c1890's, often took the high collar concept into consideration with their designs but by adding what we call 'sheer fashion' to the mix a new breed of high collar was born. The sheer high collar was integrated into gowns in the late 1800's and we have used this vintage impression in today's hottest, high collar looks. By adjusting strapless, and off-the-shoulder, dress designs the designers have created amazing sheer necklines which bring a whole new light to modern dresses. Even adding a choker simulation to attach sheer fabrics from the mid-neck to the dress' shoulder we are able to truly model the vintage look and give to it a new-age impression that will no doubt dazzle on-lookers at this prom.
