A Year of High Fashion

Throughout the year, even amidst the bone-chilling months, girls never let loose the thoughts of coming events. How enticing the images of prom can be when idolized in a young girls mind. The shear excitement involved in the planning of this one special evening can be a year-long event in and of itself. It can be a hard thing to focus in on one particular outfit but with a few fashion savvy tips you can find the perfect up-to-date trends to accentuate your best features.

The average 2010 fashion trend is actually contrary to most high fashion, impractical movements. The recent runway appearances of flowing, evening gowns have taken a turn for the best. Even though we are hardly scraping the surface of 2010 we are already seeing a favorable inclination toward fawning garb. One high-end trend that has hit the mainstream, and will undoubtedly find its way into the 2010 prom scene, is the high dress splits. This is an amazingly simple addition, to already fantastic gowns, which makes a world of difference. For the ultimate in Spring, Summer, and even early Fall prom garb look toward this trend for a highly polished look.

Splits are In

Top designers such as Versace and Lavin have taken the high split look to an even higher realm of fashion. With already existent trends such as the side-cut and low back gowns the addition of the high-split can take a pre-existing trend and alter it to newer waves of class. Last year the mid-thigh split was all the craze, but that is officially in the past and new heights have been topped. From slit skirts to maxi dresses the new look is embraced for extreme visual impact. The idea is to create a classic “Betty Boop” appeal without being over the top. By wearing a floor length gown with a long-split from base-to-thigh the entirety of the leg is revealed and thus giving off a slightly sexy vibe without showing ravenous cleavage or bearing exposure with too-short minis. This is a fine way to embrace a happy-medium.

There are other slightly altered split-dresses that trade the side split for either a centre split or a dual side split. If you are not-so happy with the side cut the alternatives are just as appealing. The dual-side split is an excellent candidate for those looking for full coverage. It is a gown with dual side splits with a panel of fabric that falls along the middle section. The flowing action of this cut is amazing for a night of dancing.
